Basis problems can be deceptive: they appear simple, but answering them
is at the root of taxability issues.Compounding these issues for entities
is deciding when a transaction is taxable at the entity level, or at
the partner/shareholder level.
Using practical examples and case studies, Andrew will speak about:
property contributions to an entity, inside and outside basis, taxable
and non-taxable income; sale of an entity, deductibility of losses, and
why we should care.
We’ll review IRC Sections 721, 722, 723 and 351.
Intermediate S Corporations
Thursday, June 23
Hilton Hotel, 168 South Robles Ave, Pasadena CA at the CSEA Annual Convention
8:00 am – 9:40 am
Cost per 50 minute hour is $18–23. Registration form is www.csea.org/events/2011-Annual-Meeting-EDUCATION-REG-FORM.pdf
This is an intermediate class, so we won’t be discussing how to fill
out the form. Rather, we’ll be looking at how to quickly solve the most
common problems encountered with preparing an 1120S, and what to do now
to reduce the likelihood of future problems. This class is limited
to 10 participants, so you’ll be able to ask all your questions. We’ll
also cover the complex issue of basis and why we care what it is.
“This is the best class on S Corps I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot.”
